Risbygate’s Outdoor News from David Garnham
21 July 2011
On Thursday 21st July, 11 teams from the Western half of Suffolk competed in the Benevolent Triples competition for the Suffolk Ladies section. After three rounds, the victorious teams going forward to the semi-finals and final at Melton B.C were from Rookery at Stowmarket, and Sudbury. We wish them luck on 2nd September.

See below for photos of the competition, played in somewhat wet conditions!

It started off in fine weather but soon after the photographer arrived it began to rain - gently at first!
Some players resisted the temptation to change into ‘wets’, but as hairstyles began to flag and the woods started to aquaplane, discretion was deemed the better part of valour!
Right: Bernie Millard demonstrating the wisdom of umpiring rather than playing!
Undaunted and still able to raise a smile or two, in spite of the inclement weather .......
Above: Fashionable headgear!
Right: ......... practical too!!
With thanks from the photographer, who shot most of the pics from the office doorway - no raindrops on him!!
........ or was Polly laughing at the score?
Bernie tots up the final scores, only to find that the Risbygate Ladies have not won the competition - but they sure had some fun trying, in spite of the weather!!
